Madison, WI - Rotary Club Madison South (RCMS) will celebrate the season with a Holiday Bingo Party Celebration for the residents of St. Maryʼs Care Center at 6:30 pm on Tuesday, December 9, 2008. A twenty-nine year tradition, members of RCMS and their families are pleased to host approximately 180 residents, some with special needs, by providing a heartwarming evening of food, fun and Bingo. In addition, Santa, along with his many helpers and special K-9 reindeer, will be distributing a small RCMS gift to residents who are unable to leave their room.
This event is one of the many ways that RCMS gives back to the community every year. In 2007, over $58,000 was distributed to the local community through RCMS charitable endeavors. In addition, members of the club also contributed $6,270 to the Annual Programs Fund of The Rotary Foundation, and $11,500 to the Polio Eradication Fundraising Campaign.

Madison South Foundation Hits its Stride
April 28, 2008 - By Steve Busalacchi
The Madison South Rotary Foundation has more than a quarter million dollars in its corpus and received about $110,000 worth of funding requests this year alone, says Foundation President Joe Balles. “The brat stand is really what this club is about,” says Joe, of the club’s main fundraising mechanism.
Joe is happy to report that the brat stand now grosses approximately $60,000 per year, enabling the Foundation to directly fund needy projects on Madison’s south side, including swimming lessons at Goodman Pool for youngsters, as well assistance for the poor in other countries.
Some of the of the money awarded this year went to two international projects
spearheaded by Rotary South members; Greg Stroncek (facial surgery in Mexico) and Ashok Rajpal (school supplies for India’s poor).
Joe noted that in order to receive funding, a group must be a 501c3 and is eligible for up to $2,500.
